SAN JOSE, California — The Xantrex GT 3.0™, Beacon M5 series™, and PV Powered StarInverter Series™ inverters join the list of residential inverters Fat Spaniel Technologies, Inc. (FST) is monitoring directly, without the need for an external power meter. FST already has direct monitoring solutions for the SMA Sunny Boy™ family of inverters. FST expects to add three additional manufacturer's inverters to its list of directly monitored residential inverters by July 2005.

By communicating directly with an inverter, FST can save the high cost of separate AC and DC metering equipment, yet still provide the information needed to monitor & diagnose system performance. Direct monitoring can also pick up any status or error codes generated by the inverter.  

“This is an economical and easy-to-install solution, useful either alongside or in place of our revenue-grade metering options,” says Sjuli Beekhuis, Director of Business Development. “Customers can enjoy the same visualization tools we always offer, get the full picture of system performance, and have access to the inverter's own status and diagnostic codes.”

For applications requiring revenue grade metering, such as the California Performance Based Incentive Program, adding inverter-direct readings leverages FST's ability to aggregate the output of multiple instruments into one easy to read view.
